Joey Dunlop Foundation - Isle
of Man Festival of Motorcycling
A message from Kevin Quirk of
the Joey Dunlop Foundation ....
With Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling now fast approaching
, the team at JDF expect to be extremely busy with the Festival
theme being 'Joey Dunlop and his rivals'.
We decided that the traditional memorial lap should be
switched from its traditional date of 2nd July to Tuesday
In line with previous years the lap is on open roads and
this year the police have agreed to assist with traffic
We are expecting a significant number of motorcycles participating
and ask that you arrive in Pitlane or Parc Ferme no later
than 18.00 with a prompt start at 18.30.
As JDF is currently proposing to build two more apartments
at Braddan Bridge, we ask each participant to purchase a
Joey Dunlop Foundation T shirt, Simon Andrews Memorial Lap
T shirt or a Joey Dunlop Foundation Polo shirt.
To avoid the rush prior to departure why not buy online
, call down to Braddan Bridge House (week day mornings ,
apart from 12-14 August) or visit our retail outlets in
the TT Grandstand.
The name Joey
Dunlop® is now trademarked by the family.
There’s a lot of items on the internet that do not
have the approval of the family, and hence are not official
merchandise, so think twice before purchasing these items,
as they are NOT licensed products.
Joey Dunlop - No Ordinary Joe DVD
This DVD has been produced by the same team that made ‘Joey
Dunlop – Remembered’ and ‘How the North
West was Won’ for the BBC and includes all the good
material we could not fit in our BBC production ‘Joey
Dunlop – Remembered’.
As well as lots of new stories and tributes from contributors
Linda Dunlop and family members
The Dunlop Family have raided the family archive
to find new pictures never shown before even on the Joey
In addition we have looked in our film archive
for more racing footage of Joey including the NW200 ,Ulster
Grand Prix and races in Ireland.
There are interviews with Joey never shown
before and also a visit to the Kushitani factory in Japan
where his leather patterns are still kept.
Among the new material is exclusive footage
from the Joey Thanksgiving Service held in the Garryduff
Also from the personal photographs of Derek
McIntyre (former Motorcycle News Photographer) are exclusive
pictures of Joey on the continent. This sequence was not
included in the Joey Dunlop TV programme.
Presented and Narrated by Stephen Watson
and endorsed by the Dunlop Family as the only official DVD
of Joey’s life.
